Summer wedding at the Paintwork’s Bristol

Living just a few minutes away I had wanted to shoot a wedding at the Paintwork’s event space in Bristol for what seemed like forever. It’s probably not the first place people think of to get married so I knew it would take a special couple to love it’s urban industrial feel as much as I do.

Luckily for me, Claire & James were that couple. They wanted a lovely relaxed wedding, close to home with something different to offer. The big event space provided a blank canvas for the couple to make their own and it’s large capacity can easily catered for all their guests.

After saying a quick hello I popped into the Paintwork’s to photograph the venue which was already set up waiting for the days event. The tables were laid out ready to go and the home made sweet cart and rustic naked cake looked impressive.

The bridal party were getting ready in one of the apartments above the court yard. The stylish accommodation offers a great open plan living and sleeping space.

The double height ceiling showed off Claire’s beautiful long wedding dress with it’s impressive tail. Her mum helped her get ready with bridesmaids giving the final touches before revealing to dad.

Once ready Claire made her entrance down the court yard steps heading towards her wedding at the Paintwork’s event space.

Guests were already seated and James was smiling waiting patiently for his bride.

The ceremony was short and sweet with a close friends singing a few songs as they signed the register.

Afterwards guests had drinks outside whilst I took the couple off for a short walk around the Paintwork’s industrial estate.

One of their sons wanted to stay close to mum and dad so he came along for the walk and I got him to be my little helper making mum and dad laugh along the way.

On our return we went straight into family photo’s in the Paintwork’s court yard in front of the air stream.

Posh picnic style food was then served on the long tables with guests tucking into hampers of home made pork pies, quiches and and meat platters.

After speeches there was a short time to enjoy the afternoon sun before the evening festivities commenced.

It was truly a pleasure photographing Claire and James’s day, everyone was so relaxed and we all had such a great time.

I love the feel of the Paintwork’s with it’s bold colours and textures making it the perfect urban background, I do hope I get the opportunity to photograph there again.
